Cherry Creek became part of the Pikes Peak Gold Rush in 1858-1859 when gold was discovered there.  At that time, it was part of the Kansas Territory.

Today it is best known for elegant shopping, restaurants/cafes and art.  It is home to the Cherry Creek Mall known for its high end department stores including Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffany & Co.  Cherry Creek North offers 16 blocks of additional shopping and dining located, not surprisingly, just north of the Cherry Creek Mall.  It offers pedestrian-friendly streets, fountains, flower gardens and outdoor art and is home to over 300 galleries, boutiques, restaurants and more.

"Cherry Creek" as it is known is next door to the Denver Country Club area and some of the finest "old world" architecture in Denver.  Most homes in the area are priced in the millions and are wonders to behold.  The Denver Country Club was established in 1887 and is the oldest country club west of the Mississippi.

The 22 mile long "Cherry Creek Trail" is enjoyed by walkers and bike-riders in all seasons.  In early July, the area hosts the Cherry Creek Arts Festival for 3 days of fun, food and fabulous art displayed in outdoor boutiques.
